Prior to the last group game the coach expressed so much confidence in his team. “We are in Uruguay with a mission. To win and qualify from our group to the quarter-finals first. We are almost there and on Tuesday, we will complete that assignment.

“We have six points now, but the target is to pick all the maximum points and that will be the next mission on Tuesday,” said Adotey, who seems satisfied with the performance of his girls so far.

Indeed, the Maidens have played in a scintillating manner and do not look like losing a match anytime soon. The match, though tough, was manageable for the team. They played very well, holding up the midfield, keeping a good defensive shape, and denying opponents chances at goal. The Maidens made good use of counter attacking opportunities and also made many chances of their own. They made 27 shots in total and had 9 on target with a possession of 63%.
