During his concert in London, Shatta made a statement, “Ghana is a village” on stage. This came as a shock to most Ghanaians. Self acclaimed ‘Dancehall King’, Shatta Wale shows some form of diplomacy as he expresses his opinion in a sing.

I want to know, what be your mind? Do not waste time.Yh! Them be primitive ooh, so me, I use technology. My feeling no hide. See, me, I craze. The truth, I say with no apology. See, we no shy. So when I talk dem dey listen say my matter be pissing, from the village to the city show them the difference, give them the reasons.”

His view of the country being a village has to do with the kind of behaviour we portray collectively, as a people, each and everyday. The use of the word ‘primitive’, however, is a mockery of Ghanaians as a whole which he went too far to mention. The mention of this word is likely to increase the uproar against his opinion.

“So when I say Ghana be village, check your gutter and check yourleakage. When I say Ghana be village, then,I dey talk my mind ooh,no be mistake.”

The statement he makes as ‘Ghana Be village’ seems to have some evidence backing it. As people aren’t able to keep a hygienic environment. Also, the indiscriminate disposal of refuse and garbage on our streets and amusement parks would give him a right to make such a statement.

For the Dancehall king, if he doesn’t see a change in the behaviour of the Ghanaian he is still going to call his country a village. Sadly to say, it’s the hard truth.
