New Zealand star Lorde returns from her second consecutive 4-year hiatus with a brand new album titled ‘Solar Power’.
Real name Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor, Lorde has three (3) discographies to her name. The first is Pure Heroine (2013), Melodrama (2017) and now Solar Power (release on 20 August, 2021). She also has an EP, The Love Club which was released for free on SoundCloud in 2012.
The singer gained prominence in 2013 with ‘Royals’, which was released commercially under Universal Music Group and Virgin Records. She was then 17 years.
Having sold over 5 million albums worldwide, Lorde has really got the ‘Solar Power.’ The singer returns at age 26 with a more profound definition of her style.
Speaking her latest album, Lorde said; “I was very much raised outdoors by the beach, in the ocean, outside,” the New Zealand pop titan tells Apple Music.
“But it wasn’t until I got my dog that I understood how precious the natural world is and how many gifts there are for someone like me to receive. I felt like all I was doing was paying attention and being rewarded tenfold with things that would not just lift my mood, but legitimately inspire me.”
The death of her dog, Pearl, in 2019, slowed down the production of the album, but what Lorde learned from him—the joy of being outside, even if it’s just at your local park—flows through the finished product.
