BetPlanet shuts down after just a year of business and heavy promotions
‘BetPlanet is closing! Please withdraw any balance you have in your account as soon as possible. Deposit and betting services are no longer available.’
On the morning of 14th July, 2021, BetPlanet announced that it is shutting down.
‘BetPlanet, Ghana’s number one betting platform, offers the best odds for all matches around the world to make it interesting for punters to place their bets.’
Please note that, this was the mantra of a new betting empire promising millions to Ghanaians like the rest of them.
Ghanaians are now wondering what may have happened.
In May 2020, BetPlanet hired a myriad of powerful celebrities as ambassadors for their business venture. Kwadwo Nkansah LilWin, John Dumelo, Efya, Sister Derby, Moesha Bodoung, Salma Mumin, Kelvynboy, ZynnellZuh, DKB, Nadia Buari and many more. A line up fit enough to run a promotion of epic proportions. A world class influencer team.
Furthermore, one may ask why a company into sports betting would consider such heavyweights to project a big bang of market entry. Well, your guess may be as good as everyone’s else’s. They are the best of the best influencers.
So what may have gone wrong?
BetPlanet is a betting company owned by Planet Sports Limited licensed under the Gaming Commission of Ghana. BetPlanet is a leading gaming system provider that develops and markets a range of technology solutions for electronic gaming machines for clubs, pubs and hotels.
The betting site offered an extremely safe and secure platform for you to play on, with the best quality data encryption and protection. The Gaming Commission of Ghana has authorized Planet Sports Limited to provide gaming services in Ghana under License Number GCSB20S9065G.
However, the reason BetPlanet is down is yet to be made public. Could it be a case of ROI (return on investment), overhead cost, or simply put a business that’s not sustainable.
We will keep you posted.
