There might be a “third” person who many have missed. Ata Kak, a Ghanaian native born in Kumasi, started rapping and debuted the first Twi-Rap titled, “Obaa Sima” album in 1994. His first ever media report in any Ghanaian tabloid was on GhKings, earlier this year.
After 20 years, Ata Kak‘s obscure music “Obaa Sima” has gained global recognition with over forty (40) million downloads.
Ata Kak is currently on his fourth (4th) European tour.
In a new documentary film released by Red Bull Music Academy and in collaboration with Awesome Tapes From Africa, they set out to find the history behind the first Twi-rap album.
