Davido has been in the deepest end this year; loosing three (3) friends, being charged as a suspect and having number one (1) song across Africa. Not just one (1) or two (2), the Nigerian singer has five (5) top charting songs. IF by Davido has over 55 million views on YouTube ( at the time of this publication).
2. Come Closer by Wizkid (ft Drake)
Two (2) of the world’s favourite and you could expect nothing but the best. ‘Come Closer’ follows Wizkid long time relation with Drake which finally saw the two (2) collaborating on this song. It’s has also been Shazamed over 400K times making it also the Most Shazamed Africa song.
3. Fall by Davido
Real name David Adeleke, Davido again secures third (3rd) position on the list with Fall. The Nigerian singer has unarguably dominated the music scene this year. Fall also has over 40 million views on YouTube.
4. Marry You by Diamond Platnumz (ft Ne-Yo)
East African king, Diamond Platnumz takes number four (4) spot. Diamond overall is the most watched with 19 million total views on YouTube according to YouTube Music Insight. Davido has 11 million total views.
5. Pain Killer by Sarkodie (feat Runtown)
This song is one of the best collaborations this year (2017). Self acclaimed sound god Runtown teams up with ‘Adonai’ hit-maker Sarkodie on this one. The song caught widespread shortly after its release.
6. Wo by Olamide
With over 12 million views on YouTube, this video was about controversies and was even banned on Nigerian television. But it didn’t stop the video from accumulating numbers online. Wo by Olamide takes no. 6 spot. The song also tops Most Searched on Google in Nigeria.
7. Iskaba by Wande Coal
Iskaba went off the top after the colourful video it coupled was released on to YouTube. The official Black Diamond and DJ Tunez literally had every African lady vibing to this song.
8. Taking Over by Shatta Wale
Ghana’s Man of the Year, Shatta Wale continues to be the most talked about. However, the Dancehall singer competes with other African artistes in a hot spot. Taking Over is Shatta’s top most watched video on YouTube with over 5.7 million views.
9. Leg Over by Mr Eazi
Part of Mr Eazi spearheading into the international scene could attributed to this song. The song also gained notoriety in the UK and other foreign countries. The video has over 27 million views on YouTube.
10. All Over by Tiwa Savage
Nigerian queen Tiwa Savage continues to dominate the female section and also battle with male acts for the overall crown. Tiwa Savage rocked everyone with this one and Ma Lo featuring Wizkid.
11. One Corner by Patapaa
Patapaa was on the road to achieve a global craze with one but unfortunately he lost the race due to promotion. The Swedru native singer took over the social media after his One Corner went viral in Ghana and Nigeria.
